Definitely not worth it

The trip to visit the folks was very nice - that's not what I'm referring to, never fear.

No, it's the job that's killing me. I haven't written anything except this blog (other than grading comments) since January. Sunday nights, I get so upset at the thought of going to work the next day that I feel like screaming. (Sometimes I do scream.) I'm having trouble sleeping. I'm gaining back weight that I lost.

I spent hours this last weekend looking at job listings in the area. I am either over qualified (cashier/deli worker/etc) or underqualified (surgeon/dean/sales exec/etc) for every single one of them.

Something needs to change.

In the meantime, I need to survive the last 4 weeks of the term. Not as easy as one might suppose.

Living with someone whining about the end of semester coming and how much WORK she has to do... I forget that the teachers are a tad bit stressed, too. Hope it works out that you find the perfect job for the perfect salary...

Glad you're back!

Just the tip of the iceberg:

Must read and give comments on 30 5-page cause-effect essays.

Must grade 30 10-page research essays.

Must grade 30 5-page cause-effect essays.

Must read and comment on 60 journal entries.

That's only for 2 of my three sections, and doesn't include any class prep time, conferences, or in-class time.

Your work sounds overwhelming. It's maddening, but I wish you well.

Sounds like a rest or a change is best, unless it's just a matter of pre-marathon stresses. I know I always think about stressful things differently after they're past.
